Auditions held at The Sprague in Bandon on Thursday, September 5th • 1pm - 5pm
This is for a one day shoot in Bandon on Saturday, September 28th
Walk-ins welcome, but scheduling a timeslot with the filmmaker is strongly encouraged.
Marina has enlisted the help of a stranger to get rid of either her baby tooth, or her boat, whichever he prefers.
In "Baby Tooth," Marina sets out to sell her late grandfather's antique speedboat in an urban parking lot. When a local man shows interest in the boat, an unexpected and surreal conversation unfolds. Marina's odd request for help pulling a tooth, revealed by a thread hanging from her mouth, clashes with the man's preconceived notions, leading to a tense standoff. As cultural and personal differences collide, the encounter culminates in an explosive confrontation.
Casting for the part of “The Man”
The Man (50s/60s, flexible on the age range): A local, rough-around-the-edges character who shifts from confident and charismatic to unsettlingly creepy, ultimately exploding in anger when his expectations are challenged. This fella serves as a “villain” of sorts .
A note from the director for "The Man": Feel free to ad-lib and improvise. I’m looking to collaborate with an actor I trust, who can help shape and bring something new and exciting to this character. The general idea is that "The Man" is a bit of a country boy who saw a boat for sale on Craigslist and is coming to check it out. He has little patience for anything out of the ordinary, and Marina is definitely not what he expected. He finds her attractive, confusing, and increasingly frustrating, experiencing a rapid shift of emotions. I want to explore and hone these emotions to ensure they feel authentic and warranted throughout this short script.
Please note that this role involves cursing, hitting on a young woman, and yelling. If any of that makes you uncomfortable, this may not be the part for you!
